Winkel 43 welcomes new faces to the kitchen
Winkel 43 has been welcoming new faces to the kitchen since the end of March through a partnership with Cordaan. People with a disability are now helping to bake the famous apple pie.
At Winkel 43, it is all about true craftsmanship. The apple pie is baked fresh daily, with care and attention, and that is precisely why we are proud of the people who make it. Since the end of March, we have been able to welcome a number of special new kitchen staff members.
Through Cordaan, we currently offer day activities for people with a disability. At the moment, five people work with us through Cordaan. These are people with a disability who help bake in our kitchen four to five days a week. Their primary task? Baking the famous apple pie of Winkel 43. And they do so with complete dedication.
More hands, more heart
The collaboration is still in its early stages, but the ambition is great. Eventually, about twelve participants will work with us in the kitchen. For us, that is not just an expansion of the team; it is a way to do something meaningful, close to what we are good at.
Winkel 43 has been a place where people come together for years. Locals, tourists, neighborhood residents; everyone is welcome at the Noordermarkt. That openness is in our DNA, and that also applies to the way we treat our team.
Craftsmanship in good hands
The apple pie that you will order shortly is made by people who come in with pleasure every day for it. You can taste that. And that is exactly how it should be at an authentic Amsterdam café in the heart of the Jordaan.
